Fashion Friday (on Sunday): Sweaty Purple Hair

Image
I didn't do a Fashion Friday post this week, mostly because I have developed an allergy to planning. But also because my #1 look this week has been sweaty and makeup-free. But I made a realization today... I look good sweaty! Right? Hahahah. But I did do something to my appearance this week... I dyed my hair.. PURPLE! And no, that's not an April Fool's joke, it's just an exaggeration. I actually dyed it a color called burgundy black. I'm not supposed to dye my hair because I have to match my headshots, and you can barely tell that I changed it because it was already so dark. It just looks purply in the sunlight. I like it. =) Looks the same... Bam, sunshine. This is not anywhere close to the craziest haircolor I've had. That award would go to the blue hair that got me fired from my movie theater job in high school. But this is like... a secret rebellion that only I notice. Yeahhh I'm weird. Triceps and upper back are sore from lifting yesterday. Inner thi...

Nail Art!

Image
I am terrible at painting my nails. I usually paint all over my fingers and then wash my hands and hope the extraneous paint comes off. That's a slight exaggeration, but whatevs. I do like painting my nails, though, and I usually paint them dark purple or black, sometimes with sparkles, because I like sparkles. But today while I was watching The Duchess I decided to get creative! I bought a new, more natural/vegan nail polish remover: It works just as well as my old stuff and it should be better for my nails. I used several colors of nail polish. I would like to buy the more natural ones, but those can be pretty pricey and all the ones I own now cost about a dollar or I've had them for a long time. I remember reading that you should throw away your nail polishes after a year or two. HA! I still have some I owned in third grade. Take that, hygiene. I used base coat, then the "gray suede" color, then the dark purple and pink glittery ones to make stripes on my left han...

Introducing Mini Movie Reviews

Image
My diet has mostly consisted of this and this And I've been feeling great! Mmm, I missed cereal. Yesterday I went to an event at The Actors Network and a workshop with the associate casting director of 90210. I love that show and it was fun to hear everyone read scenes from it. In between those events I stopped in Whole Foods and bought a few necessities. I had a coupon for $3 off Alba Acnedote products so I bought this scrub. I've talked before about using coconut oil as lotion . I bought one jar in March and it just ran out. This jar cost $7, making it about 49 cents per oz - that's approximately half the price per ounce of most lotions. And lastly, I'm going to try out this toothpaste that was on sale. I realize I've been talking about movies a lot lately, so I decided to make a new feature. May I introduce: Mini Movie Reviews Yesterday I watched two movies - first up, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead. This adaptation of the play by Tom Stoppard exp...

Curry Veggie Stew, Giveaway Links, Spoken Word Poetry Video

Image
Oops, I did it again! I made another soup recipe. This one is jam-packed with veggies, both frozen and fresh. Curry Veggie Stew 3 bunches kale stalks, chopped 1 bunch carrots, diced 1 eggplant, diced 1 bag frozen broccoli florets 1 bag frozen spinach 1 cup yellow split peas 5 cups water 2 tbsp curry powder 1 tbsp garam masala 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon 1 tsp cumin 1 tbsp Braggs 1 tbsp mustard In a big soup pot, add all veggies (if using an onion, add that first), split peas, and water. Cook about an hour, until veggies and peas are soft. Season to taste. It's amazing, but the broccoli and eggplant are not even detectable when it's done because they cook down so much. This is the perfect recipe for any kind of vegetable you don't like that much. And of course, a perfect way to use your kale stalks! Vegan Beauty and Makeup and an Awesome Day of Filming

Image
I had a great day today because I got paid to act . Any day I get paid to act is a great day and that's what I'm pursuing in life - more great days. Yesterday was good, too. In the morning I spent a few hours going through my financial records. When I moved out here I started printing out my online banking statement each month, going through my receipts, and analyzing my spending habits. I fell a few months behind so that's what I spent time catching up on. It was really informative. Besides rent, my biggest expenditure is definitely food - I figured out how much I spent on food per month, how much that equaled out to per day, and then my daily average food cost for the first six months here. By looking into my spending so closely, I think I'm getting a much better idea of how I can cut down on costs and I plan on making the second six months cheaper than the first. If this sounds like a lot of work, it really isn't. It just requires half an hour of work pe...
