Arapahoe Community College Scholarships For Eldercare Specialist Certificate Program

The Eldercare Specialist Program at Arapahoe Community College is offering scholarships for their Eldercare Specialist Certificate Program . This five credit-hour certificate includes two courses: (1) Concepts for Elder Care and (2) Introduction to Food Production Principles and Practices. The courses are completed over one 15-week semester. Once completed, students can work in a variety of settings to assist individuals create a vibrant home life. Insight into leadership, learning circles, team work and problem solving are a few of the new skills these participants will gain. You can view a brochure on the certificate program here. The Health Facilities and Emergency Medical Services Division of the Colorado Department of Health will be providing quality management program (QMP) presentations at northern Colorado locations. These workshops will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with a one hour lunch-on-your-own. OASIS Training in October Cancelled

Due to the Federal funding slowdown, the Health Facilities and Emergency Medical Services Division of the Colorado Department of Health cancelled the OASIS training scheduled for October 7-8, 2013 at Pathways Hospice in Fort Collins. At this time, this is the only training session cancelled. Re-scheduling is expected in 2014. All Denver sessions are currently full, and will proceed as planned if funding allows. TB Update and Skin Testing Practicum for Health Care Providers

The Denver Metro TB Clinic and the Colorado Coalition Against Tuberculosis invite nurses and other health care providers from home health agencies and long-term care facilities to attend a tuberculosis update and skin testing practicum on Thursday November 14th, 2013 from 12:30 PM to 5 PM at the Rita Bass Training Center at Denver Health. MDS 3.0 training will be held Wednesday and Thursday, August 14 and 15, 2013 at the La Quinta Inn located at 2761 Crossroads Blvd, Grand Junction, CO 88506, Ph 970-241-2929. By September 1, 2013 Long Term Care Facilities (LTCFs) will be required to certify that they are properly disposing of pharmaceutical and other wastes. Please join representatives from CDPHE's Solid and Hazardous Waste Program for an overview of the requirements and get information that will help keep your facility in compliance. Denver MDS Training!

The time is upon us once more! Minimum Data Set (MDS) 3.0 training will be held in Denver on July 17th and 18th at the First Plymouth Church at Hampden and Colorado Blvd. We will again review the MDS 3.0 with emphasis on the Resident, and also delve deeper into the intricacies of the tool. We will also be talking more in-depth about quality measures, evacuations and Care Plans along with any new directives from CMS. Training will be provided to the MDS coordinators all day Wednesday and Thursday. Training for the IDT members will be included on Thursday. The AM session is Sexuality & Intimacy in Residents with Dementia, and the PM session is Reducing Dementia-Related Behaviors: Non-Pharmacologic Approaches.
